Team Communication

Why is communication between team members so important and what are some examples to this statement?

What is team communication? Team communication is the process of conveying information to a group of people in a form that everyone can understand. Why is communication a key? The key use of communication is to ensure points of high importance are made clear and understood. Being able to convey information correctly could be a result of life or death.

Looking more in depth on this subject I will explain the reasons and give examples to the question why is team communication so important? Communication comes in different forms, speech, written and visual. The most common forms used are written and spoken. Spoken is the most universal way of communicating it consists of a speaker and one or more listeners. The quest in this example is making sure all the listeners understand what is being said not only in the level of speech but the language that is being spoken. It does no good to be talking to a group if there is a language barrier. As for the level of speech can be explained as; you don’t want to speak about land conveyance to a four or five year old because they don’t understand, nor do you want to talk medical terms to the average person because not all of us have gone to medical school to learn the terms and meanings. The next area of communication is in the form of written material, which once again all the same factors of spoken is considered but you also can see material in written form, along with added visual aids. Such visual aids can be pictures, graphs, diagrams etc. Last but not least there is the form of communication that uses no form of speech or writing. This form of communication is used everyday by people all around, simple hand gestures or body movements along with hand gestures. Now that each form has been evaluated let me put them into prospective of each ones function in a team or group.

Speech is the most common form when someone thinks of communication. In a group or team setting it is where each person has a turn in speaking and listening to others. As long as everyone speaks the same language this is easiest way to communicate and in a group setting if someone does not understand a point than possibly another person within the group can explain it a different way to help others understand.

In written form the same peace of information can be conveyed and taken
