The Abortion War

The Abortion War

In today’s society, there’s no doubt that abortion is one of the critical issues here in the United States. Some thirty years after the Roe verses Wade Supreme Court decision, America continues to feel the impact. In the essay “Making Abortion Rare”, it’s clear that though the war pushes on between prolife and prochoice believers, most Americans have mixed beliefs.

Interesting enough, though most Americans lie in the middle of the debate, the extremists steal to spotlight. From rallies supporting both sides to murders of those that perform abortions, again and again is the most prominent belief ignored. The Supreme Court ruling legalizing abortions ultimately left the decision up to the woman. The prochoice side of the debate is for just that, a woman’s right to make the decision. They believe that if a woman decides an abortion is the route she wants to take, then she has that right to do so. Republicans tend to side with the prolife side, as democrats are more prochoice. With Republicans gaining control in the White House and vacancies coming up in the Supreme Court, the idea of Roe verse Wade being overturned has become more plausible. If today the decision were to be overturned, it would split the states. Abortions would be legal in some states and illegal in others just across the state borders. Most Americans
