The Calming of the Sea

I will be the first to admit that I do not always trust in the Lord. When a problem comes along, sometimes I panic, not knowing if God will always be there. The truth is that God does care for us, he wants the best for us, and will never let us down. We also sometimes question Gods love for us. For example, I could bring up 9/11 and how all those innocent lives were taken. Some say it was Gods fault and question why he would ever let such a terrible thing happen. I personally do not have an answer to this question, but I do think God will bring some sort of good out of this. We have seen some good come from this tragedy. After 9/11 our country came together. We showed love for one another and raised millions of dollars for the families of the victims. In times of trouble we need to trust in God.

In Jesus’ life he preformed many miracles. He did things from curing the sick to walking on water. The miracle I will be talking about is the Calming of the Storm (Matthew 8:23-27). In this story Jesus and his disciples we on a boat in the middle of the sea when the whether started to get a little violent. It started to rain and the wind started to blow making giant waves. The waves and this terrible weather started to make the disciples nervous, for there life was in danger.

During all of this Jesus was unfazed and asleep. The disciples were so nervous that they decided to awake Jesus. They told him how they thought they were going to die and asked Jesus for help. Jesus answered by saying to them why they were so scared and questioned there faith. After that Jesus got up stopped the winds and soon after the sea was calm. This kind of shocked the disciples and they realized that he is the true Messiah.
