The characteristics of a good manager
A manager plays a significant role in a company, and he or she has a deep influence on the business development. A good manager has numerous characteristics; three crucial ones are working hard,owning a good insight and having a good relationship with staffs.
Working hard is an important characteristic of a good manager.A survey about Chinese manager’s work time shows that nearly 90.6% managers work about 66 hours per week and 18.3% managers work seven days a week.This illustrates that running a business is not an easy task,and it needs large amount of energy and time to put into.So a good manager needs to work hard in order to make better control of business.
Moreover,owning a good insight is another necessary characteristic which builds a good manager.Steve Jobs,the ex-CEO of Apple,came back to Apple in 1996 and insisted on researching and developing tablet PC which raised a lot of money for Apple and brought it back from near bankruptcy.Steve Jobs’s greatness comes from the quality of insight.In other words, his ability to recognize how an inflection point in technology can solve an important problem.
In addition,having a good relationship with staffs is also a characteristic of a good manager which cannot be ignored. A good relationship between manager and staffs will make staffs enhance a sense of belonging;consequently, management may become easier, and more talent staffs are willing to help and support the business.The more staffs want to fellow and support, the more successful the business and a manager will be.Therefore, having a good relationship with staffs is necessary for a good manager.
