THESIS:
The author argues how Islamic Civilization began to unravel under western civilization, and how its institutions, and laws were replaced by modern counterpart. Allawi also takes into account other factors that form the fundamental characteristics of Islamic culture such that he has identified spirituality as its key.
SUMMARY:
• The main problem was the expansion of the West into Muslim lands. The gradual loss of power and territory accompanied with the demoralization of the traditional rulers Islam fell in to the hands of the West by the beginning of the 20th century Islam lost almost all of its major possessions.
• With the Ideas of nationalism and socialism it became even more difficult to make people hold their allegiance to the Umma which transcended the ethnic and language barriers.
