THE CRUCIBLE & “WITCH HUNT”
There is truth in the saying think twice before what u do, there is a perfect example in the crucible when John Proctor sacrifices himself to save himself from the scorn and hate that the people of Salem would have given him. “There I’ve signed it” John Procter said, “I’ve given you my life, leave me my name!” The reason that the people would have scorned him because he would have lied, and all of the people that had died for “witchcraft” would have died in vain, however unfortunately they all passed away.
In the crucible the girls that accused the people of witchcraft are all Abigail’s friends. Reverend Paris’s slave is there leader, and reverend Paris’s daughter Betty Paris also joins in on the fun. Also Abigail Williams happens to be reverend Paris’s niece. The crucible is the start of lack of faith in the government when Dan Forth accuses all the people even though there was no proof in the court. They all got the idea to try and win people back, so Dan Forth tried to make John Procter confess, John did, but it was a lie to protect himself, and in the end he did what he though was the right thing.
In the movie Good Night and Good Luck, the people were falsely accused by a man who went by the name McCarthy. He accused a bunch of people of being communists even though if they were communists or not, it didn’t matter. Two people in the movie were not convicted, one little black lady accused of entering communist codes on the white house. She was a secretary for them. The other person was Milo Redulivich.
