Terri Schiavo died sixteen years ago. She stopped breathing for twenty minutes and the loss of oxygen to her brain would destroy all hope of her having normal brain activity on any level except the instinctual ever again. There has been a long ongoing battle between Michael Schiavo, husband of Terri, and Terri’s parents Bob and Mary Schindler. They have been fighting in the courts of Florida since May 1998. Michael has been fighting to have her food tube removed thereby allowing Terri to starve to death. Terri Schiavo’s parents are of a different opinion and are fighting the husband so that Terri would be forced to remain in the persistent vegetative state for a long life. Michael has however convinced the judicial system of Florida that evidence shown at the trials was clear and convincing in the favor of removing Terri’s feeding tube.
