This story takes place on June of 1979 in the African Congo. The main characters of this book are Dr. Karen Ross, supervisor of Earth Resources Technology Services, Dr. Peter Elliot, a zoologist who trained a gorilla named Amy how to speak using sign language. Another main character is Charles Munro, whom leads the troop through the Congo. This book recounts the thirteen days of the last expedition to the Congo.

The book is about a group of people who went to the African Congo to find a type of diamond, which was called by the name of IIB blue diamonds. However they had no idea of what they would have to face to get to them. On their adventure
