Walden's Quote

One thins in life that I always remember is to hear my own drum. I do what I am told to do, but I do them in my own way. In Walden’s Pond, Walden says, “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” I have three ways of looking at this quote. These three ways are to be a leaser and not a follower, never do what my friends do just to fit in, and to step up for what I believe in.

I will always be a leader and not a follower. This is what I have learned from past experiences with my friends. Being a follower is a way for my friends and other people to take advantage of me, but by being a leader it will give me the advantage to have control over my thoughts and over how I am treated as a person. It will teach be to always be myself no matter what other say or how they act. To be a leader is easy, I must always be myself and do things as I believe are correct.

One reason why I am such a strong person is because I never do what my friends do just to fit in. I don’t think that being like everyone else is cool. I believe that being unique and doing my own thing makes me a better person and helps me succeed in life. It also makes me grow to be independent and responsible.
