Wawa’s original dairy farm was constructed on a piece of earth located in a rustic part of Pennsylvania where the chain's name comes from, Wawa, Pennsylvania. Wawa means Canadian goose and it is the current logo of all Wawa stores. Nowadays, the name Wawa has come to be a symbol of the exceptional attributes of the company. Wawa was first founded in 1803 in New Jersey. It was later represented in the legal form of a corporation in 1865 as the Millville Manufacturing Company. On April 16, 1964, Wawa Food Markets opened the doors to their first store in Folsom, Pennsylvania.
