Why We Improve Our Skills
Tough economic times teach what college students and worker should do. My country has suffered a financial crisis a few times over the last 10 years. Now once again the Korean economy as well as the world economy is in recession. Companies are struggling so hard to keep afloat. Nevertheless, a large number of mid-size and small companies have gone out of business and even major businesses have laid off many of their workers. Sadly, some laid off employees have staged violent protests against their employers. Under this circumstance, firms favor workers fully prepared for their positions. Not only job seeker and but also employed people are making every effort to meet the companies' needs. College graduates are busy equipping themselves with practical job knowledge. They do an internship in many different businesses building hand-on experience. Many of them also enroll in job-related certificate courses. To compete with these competent would be worker, employees do whatever it takes to keep their jobs.
As opposed to the past, when focusing a single major was enough, today's students are required to do more and more. This is because job competition is getting tougher and tougher.
