William Shakespeare's life, words, and the globe theater
William Shakespeare's life is a mystery even if his works have been read by millions of people. "The Bard" is one of history favorite characters. His plays are some of the best written in history. William Shakespeare's word, life and his work in the globe theater aren't as familiar to people as they feel.
William Shakespeare was born in 1564 at Stratford upon Avon. His true date of birth is a mystery. It is traditionally celebrated on April 23rd("Shakespeare's" pg 1). He was baptized on April 26th("Shakespeare's" pg 1). Which lead many to believe his birth was only a short time before. Plague struck his town in the same year as his birth. His parents were quite the people.
William Shakespeare was born to Mary and John Shakespeare. John Shakespeare was a glove maker. In his later years John held several political positions including Borough ale taster. Mary Shakespeare was a member of a minor aristocratic family. Shakespeare was the third child of eight and the first to survive past infancy("Shakespeare's" pg 1).
As a boy William probably went to Kings New College. At this school he would have learned much about History and Literature. He enjoyed the histories written about the emperors of ancient Rome. Around his 18th Birthday William married Anne Hathaway. After this he

disappeared for several years. Many wonder were he was. He probably was in Stratford making gloves. He had three children: Susanna, Hamlet, and Judith. Several years later he ended up in London were he began to write his plays.
One of William Shakespeare types of plays was Comedies. Comedies don't take love serious. They treat subjects lightly. They have many puns, Metaphors and mistaken identities are very common. Their plots are often hard to follow and include many twists. One of his best is The taming of the shrew.
Petruccio is the male main character and Katherine is the female main character. It takes place in Italy. Petruccio wishes to push his authority upon Katherine, but she fights back(Spark notes). Katherine slowly changes in to a more submissive role as the play goes on. Petruccio and Katherine have a comical wedding. By the end of the play Katherine has submitted completely to Petruccio(Spark notes).
While this play was meant to be comical his histories were most certainly not. Shakespeare's Histories were written for a patriotic England or to show his love of classic Greek and Roman figures(Eatom). Henry VIII was one of his best know tragedies. It recounts the fall of three figures in Henry VII court and the near fall of a fourth(spark notes). Each character that fell in some way was trying to block the birth of the baby Elizabeth. IT shows King Henry's break with the Roman Catholic church. The play leads up to the baptism of Elizabeth. This play was preformed on the stage of the globe theater many times.
The globe theater was built in 1599. It was made of timber, it may have been round or octagonal. The theater its timber were taken from had not been used. So they moved it across the

river and reconstructed there. Shakespeare was one of five investors that paid for its movement and also own part of the theater. Wealthy sat in the galleries
