Woman's Right by Daquan Davidson
In this day the debate about abortion in America is not only a moral issue; But also an issue for Women's Rights. Taking away a woman's right to choice could cause her or the child further atrocities. Taxpayer dollars are used to enable poor women to access the same medical services as rich women, and abortion is one of these services. Funding abortion is no different from funding a war in the Mideast. A fetus is not a human being. Abortion is terminating a pregnancy, not a baby. Personhood at conception is not a proven biological fact. Personhood begins at birth. Right to abortion gives her an individual identity, as per which she can decide the fate of her child. Abortion is one of the few choices that woman have in society. The right to "choice" has become overtime has became the new direction. As illustrated in the following graph, a shocking 71% of the population say keep abortion or make it easier. Ultimately, she is the one who would be going through the actual "Labor" of continuing pregnancy, delivering a baby, bringing it up, good
parenting, in addition to other obligations she has to do in her daily life.
Woman's Daily Magazine showed that 77% percent of those who oppose abortion are MEN. One woman stated in the same article "77% of men oppose abortion 100% will never be pregnant". Vice President E. J. Drew Stated "the desire to raise children is important to establish the foundational values and teachings needed for kids to become loving respectable adults". He also stated "It Is a women's right to determine if she has the mental, physical and spiritual readiness". A baby should not come into this world unwanted. 49% of all pregnancies among American women are unintended http://abortion.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=003721 - 50 Birthing children is an important lifelong decision that requires responsible consideration, preparation, and planning. Pregnancy can occur even with responsible contraceptive use. Only 8% of women who have abortions do not use any form of birth control, and that is due more too individual carelessness than to the availability of abortion.
Medical abortions have less than 0.5% risk of serious complications and do not affect a woman's health or future ability to become pregnant or give birth. Nearly all abortions take place in the first trimester (88%), when a fetus cannot exist independent of the mother. As it is attached by the placenta and umbilical cord, its health is dependent on her health, and cannot be regarded as a separate entity as it cannot exist outside her womb. The concept of personhood is different from the concept of human life. Human life occurs at conception, but fertilized eggs used for in vitro fertilization are also human lives and those not implanted are routinely thrown away. This is not murder, and thus, abortion isn't murder.
Laws against abortion would not stop abortion; they would simply make it less safe. The number of women who get abortions would not change when it goes from being legal to illegal. The only thing that would change is more women would die. Every year, 78,000 women die from unsafe abortions. It is said the people who are most against abortion are also often most against these preventative measures. On a survey from a political article 88% agreed with the statement: Doctors, not governments, should always be the people to make medical opinions and recommendations. The government is not expected to have say in medical procedures such as blood transfusions or transplants. Is an Abortion not as an equal? Some people on Akkora.com feel the fact that we would even consider, let alone allow, governments to regulate a medical procedure is both illogical and foolish. This is clearly stating that women own their body. The can decide what they would like to do with it. And no one has a right to tell them otherwise.
A choice for Abortion can be the only thing that stands between a woman and DEATH. Women who face deadly consequences of a pregnancy deserve to choose to live. There are circumstances where the mother to be is unable to sustain a pregnancy safely, and would endanger herself, as well as her fetus, if that were to occur. In such an instance, it makes sense to perform an abortion, saving the woman in question's life, rather than to risk both her well being, and that of the fetus. It's a tough decision in most cases, and often happens to women, who would dearly love to have a child, but in this case, common sense should prevail.
Forcing a woman in her teen years to continue a pregnancy can be fatal. Teen girls, whose bodies are not yet ready for childbirth, are said to be five times more likely to die. Another disturbing statistic is that 70,000 girls ages 15-19 die each year from pregnancy and childbirth. And the babies that do survive have
