World Tourism
These days, people are traveling more and more for many different reasons. It is usually either business trip or vacations. One way or the other, people want to get away from the stress of their daily routines. Whatever the reason, all the traveling done by people has made tourism the world's largest and fastest growing industry.
While it may boost a country's economy, doubts about the overall benefits of tourism are reinforced by the belief that tourism brings adverse social and cultural effects. As an industry, it may have several impacts on a country, both good and bad.
Tourism is the main source of income to developing countries like Maldives and most of the other South Asian countries. When tourists come to these countries, with them they bring in foreign currency. Whatever the tourists spends is earned by the governments of these countries. This accelerates the economic growth of these countries which leads to improvement in infrastructure, schools, hotels and miscellaneous other things which in turn attracts more tourists to those countries.
Moreover, tourism creates job opportunities in many different fields like fishing, agriculture, handicraft, etc. Also people get jobs at many resorts and hotels where the tourists reside. Therefore, unemployment is minimized through tourism.
Although, tourism can be very beneficial, especially economically to the host country there are many strings attached.
