Martin Luther King Jr. was known for peace and equal rights. Martin was born on January 15, 1929 and died on April 4, 1968 by a gunshot. His grandfather was a pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta for 15 years. After that, Martin’s father died a pastor just like Martin’s grandpa. That was when Martin acted as a co-pastor. He attended public schools in Georgia and graduated high school at the age of 15. In 1951, he finished 3 years of theological study at the Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania where he won the B.D. award. He signed up in graduate studies at Boston University where he completed his residence for the doctorate in 1953 and received the degree in 1955. While in Boston he met Coretta Scott, whom he then married. Soon enough, they had 2 sons and 2 daughters. Through 1955-1956, he led a boycott of Montgomery’s, Alabama’s segregated buses. He organized the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to promote civil rights in 1957. Throughout his lifetime, he gave several speeches, but his most important speech was the “I Have A Dream” speech. The speech was mostly about ending racism and having civil and economic rights.
