Chapter 3 –

Quest: Assume you are working with a patient who tested positive for medication seeking behaviour. How would you address this issue with the patient?

Answer:  It is important   to follow a protocol to ensure that test results are communicated in an ethical and facilitative manner. Prior to discussing test results, summarize the patient’s chief concern and issues and provide reasons for why the tests were administered. Remember, test results are only a piece of the puzzle; other factors may be contributing to or exacerbating symptoms. Test development characteristics that are valid and reliable. I will tell the patient what the results mean, as well as what they do not mean. At the end of discussion, I will ask patients to summarize what they understand and what that means regarding their health and treatment.

Chapter 4–

Quest: What are some of the reasons that evidence-based clinical interventions developed for traditional counselling settings must be adapted for the IC settings?

Answer: To best meet the needs of patients within the IC environment, it is necessary for BHPs to convert evidence-based knowledge into brief interventions that flow with the pace and treatment philosophy of the IC practice. Thus, the goal of creating protocols is to maximize the fidelity of the interventions offered in IC settings. The depression protocol presented in this chapter can serve as a model ad guide for the creation of others to others to standardize care for the many common behavioural issues encountered in IC settings.

Chapter 5-

Quest: What behavioural management drugs should not be suddenly discontinued? Why?

Answer: Serotonergic drugs (e.g., SSRI, SNRI, and TCA), opioids, benzodiazepines, and anti-epileptics all have the potential for withdrawal syndromes if suddenly discontinued after long-term use. The major risk associated with discontinuing is seizure recurrence and it is the cluster of symptoms that emerge when a person who has taken benzodiazepines, either medically or recreationally, and has developed a physical dependence undergoes dosage reduction or discontinuation.

Despite, If they urging to offer the gift ask them to donate in the name of hospital or organization. These ethics are not only followed by the doctors but PCPs and BHPs are also included.
