In a world where attention is currency, it's becoming increasingly more difficult to attract the eyes and ears of your target market. The Internet has drastically altered the way in which information is shared, and has had a profound impact on marketing. Over the past few years, there has been more of a shift toward inbound techniques, while many outbound tactics have become antiquated. Due to these influences many firms may have to re-plan their marketing strategies to promote greater influence. There are many pros and cons of internet marketing. It’s important to consider each when creating internet marketing strategy.
Marketing in the Internet can reach targeted customers more effective. Through the aid of social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) in which Dobek calls as a “must” for various reasons, can attract customer’s specific needs and wants. Plus, marketing in the digital world is cost effective for the reason that it does not require ridiculously large amounts of investment as what businesses have done in the past with mass media marketing; more and more people are relying on mobile and social media marketing for their purchasing. In fact, 27% of digital marketers reported that they spend the lowest total average lead cost on social media and email marketing according to HubSpot. Digital marketing can reach a wider or even international audience. The world just became smaller with Digital marketing, allowing business from one part of the world market to another as if they’re just a few blocks away from each other. Lastly, Digital marketing is available 24/7. The World Wide Web never sleeps and so does Digital marketing, allowing business with little resources to sustain a physical 24-hour operation to compete in the digital marketplace using Digital marketing tools that can run virtually 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
