One of the first environmental difficulties I think presents a problem for Green River is that they have the union. They will have to go through the union for any kinds of changes being made that affect the employees. Even though Ken Dailey thinks that he will receive their support and that is a problem. He thinks they will go along but he does not know for sure. This is a social force that could give him problems with terms relating to remuneration and promotions. Any change made will become something for the union to scrutinize. This to me would be the most difficult force to manage. This could cause the culture of the company to become upset or rebellious. This in turn would cause the environment of the plant to change. It would affect the way the employee’s work and could cause attitudes to arise.
