Analysis of Hamlet’s thoughts and personality
Hamlet feels grief about his father’s death. In this essay, I will discuss about Hamlet’s intimate thoughts and his personalities.
To begin with, Hamlet may feel lonely after his father’s death. According to the first line ‘Now I am alone.’, Hamlet said it after his friends Rosencrantz and Polonius left. In my opinion, there are two possible reasons to show why Hamlet said it. The first reason is Hamlet’s friends left him alone. Even though is Hamlet himself asked his friends to leave, he actually feels lonely as they have left him. The other reason is because Hamlet’s father has passed away and his mother has married to his uncle and became his aunt which make him feels he was betrayed by his mother. It makes Hamlet thinks that nobody is standing with him and he feels so lonely after his beloved father died. Therefore, it shows the loneness of Hamlet.
In addition, Hamlet is inability to do anything. From the second line ‘O, what a rogue and peasant slave am I! ’, it shows that Hamlet disagree himself of doing nothing to take revenge for his father due to his hesitation. Hamlet describes himself as ‘a rogue and peasant slave’ which represent he thinks he act like a lower class people. However, Hamlet is a prince. He should have the second greatest power to do anything he likes, unlike the lower class people who are powerless and need to obey the upper class people. Besides, William Shakespeare used an exclamation mark after this line. It emphasises that Hamlet’s helpless as well as sarcasm of inability to vengeance. In short, Hamlet is incapability to take revenge to his uncle.
Moreover, Hamlet envy the actor from the play who can show his emotion easily. According to line 510 to 517 ‘Is it not monstrous that this player here, … For Hecuba!’, it reflects that Hamlet is really envy the
