The information system that I have chosen to write about is a system that I use at the Residence Inn by Marriott Fosse is short for Front Office System Select Extended Stay. This is the system that we use to manage all reservations and in house guest. The Fosse system has many menu choices to allow us to make reservations for our guest and future guest. The first thing that I do each morning after punching in is going to the FOSSE screen and I am able to pull up our availability that we have in the hotel for that day and am able to pull up how many rooms that we have vacant Ready to use and that are vacant dirty along with the number of checkouts that we have that day and what guests will be checking out so that we could have the correct registration cards pulled for that day. We are also able to tell which guests credit cards that have been processed correctly and cards that have been declined for any reason so that we are able to contact the guest with any issues. The main screen of the reservation screen looks like RSRV which is the reservation which will display the hotels availability along with allowing you to make, change or cancel a reservation. Also give you information about the meeting room. The next is FRONT OFFICE is used at checking in and out guest and doing any account maintenance. This is the function used by most front desk associates. BACK OFFICE is used most often to process the accounts receivable, guest history and this is generally used by management. ROOMS MGMT is used by housekeeping to enter when the rooms are cleaned and ready for them to be used at check in. AUDIT – simply is used to run the audit after all check in’s having arrived and process that day’s work. SYSTEM MANAGEMENT – this is used to make changes to fosse and set up interfaces.
This system is used for our in house guest and for guest calling the hotel to plan future trips, vacations, etc. to our Syracuse Residence Inn. When checking in guest or making a reservation for a guest we are able to save a lot of time if the guest is a Marriott Rewards Member because we are not having to ask the guest their personal information such as the spelling of their name and mailing address along with credit card information because all that information is already on the members information card. We are also able to register the guest for Marriott rewards at our hotel and they are able to receive a temporary card from us and we place the number in the system and then whenever they travel they are able to keep track of the points on that card immediately. Some other highlights of this are that we are able to pull up past guest bills when they have stayed at our hotel. We can pull a guest hotel bill from up to 2 years old by using this system.
Another benefit of this system that is great is that after running the audit shift all guest bills are automatically posted and charged their room rate they were quoted when making the reservation and anything that they may have purchased at the hotel such
