Performing Initial Router Configuration Week 4
Performing Initial Router Configuration Week 4
Matthew Tylicki
This week lab was similar to last week’s lab the only difference is we configured a router this time. The commands that I used to configure the router in this week’s lab are setup, no ip domain-lookup, logging synchronous, exec-timeout, history size, line console 0 , line vty 0 4, show running-config, show startup-config, copy running-config startup-config, login local, and username.
The first command that I use before I configure a router is ip domain-lookup. This command will stop the router from trying to resolve a mistyped command to DNS. The next command I used is username. The username command will allow you to configure a local user for line line console 0 and line vty 0 4 to authenticate to. The line console 0 allows you to configure the console port of the router and line vty 0 4 is used to control in bound telnet connections of the router. Once you are in line console 0 and line vty 0 4 interface configuration mode. You can configure logging synchronous, history-size, exec-timeout and login local.
