Bad Mix

Nikki Taylor, a famous supper model who's career started at the young age of 14. At the age of 26 was in the prime of her life. All because the driver was distracted while reaching for his ringing cell phone that was caught under the seat. This was not a fatal accident, but there are several thousand accidents involving cell phones that turn out deadly. The worst case that I found, was Gina Richards. Who's car rolled under the back drop of a halted semi on the freeway, she was going over 55 mph. Gina, her two twin boys, and her unborn daughter were all killed in the wreck, completely crushed. Why? Gina was distracted by a argument she was having with her mom. Personally I'm against talking on cell phones while driving, after I share my views with you, you will understand why.

We know the detrimental effect that drinking has on your coordination and judgement on operating a vehicle. The quote above explains how cellular calls are connected to accidents. Accidents caused by cell phones happen more often than we think. It is becoming increasingly common to own a mobile phone and even more so to have a vehicle, rather than taking public transportation for the simple fact off convince.

Of course you might say why cell phones? Why are we targeting in on just them? Well laws cannot

put laws on all the idiotic things people do in there cars, but this is a law that can be made to benefit everyone especially those who aren't expecting there lives to be endangered because someone wants to talk about what happened on there date last night. True thousands of accidents happen daily around the world due to all types of careless driving, eating, clipping coupons, staring at an interesting billboard, even something as elementary as changing the radio cause horrible accidents not only for the offenders, but for innocent people around them. You name it goes on in our car's. (AAA) which stands for the American Automobile Association found that distraction of cellular phones, caused 2.8% of automobile crashes in 1998-2000. This research was eight west coast states alone. However California has a bigger problem, 10 million of all Verizon wireless's 100 million phones sold nation wide belong to California. There are currently 120.1 million cell phones in circulation around the US. 75% of a nation wide pole claim they frequently use cell phones while driving. (CTIA) Cellular telecommunications and Internet Associations researched that 50-75% of all cellular phone use happens while driving.

Distractions

"Hands Free not risk free".

A number of people decided to move to hands free phone devices are not aware of it having no lesser risk. Its not the point of needing hands in order to correctly operate a vehicle it' s the fact of needing your mind completely focused on what your doing. You are not able to do that if your own the phone, your mind is involved and this involves your emotions. As we well know from getting into a argument or even being happy we are still effected mentally emotional and physical. It is not always easy to control your actions. Emotions can impair judgments, where we just act out without thinking. So how could someone talking and driving think they have a handle on operating something as important as a motor vehicle.

Most modern cell phones have special features such as taking pictures, checking the stock market, three way calling and text messaging. These features are causing more people to stay on the phone even longer most of the time to just use up free minutes, or talk about absolutely nothing. The motor vehicle department estimates that20% to 30% of all motor vehicle crashes or 1.2 million accidents are a result of driver distractions.
