Doing Business in Countries with Totalitarian Governments

“In its 2006 country report on North Korea, Freedom House stated that, "North Korea is a totalitarian dictatorship and one of the most restrictive countries in the world.” (Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia, 2007).

Totalitarian government is a form of government in which the political authority exercises absolute and centralized control over all aspects of life powered by one leader.

North Korea is a communist dictatorship originally developed by Kim II-sung, who was the founder of North Korea and its first president. After has death, Kim II-sung president position was replaced but abolished and given to his son Kim Jong-il, the Head of State.

As a communist dictatorship, North Korea laws limits its citizens to very little rights which I think no one in the U.S. could handle. Citizen’s limitations include:

 Foreigners activities are strictly monitored which makes it hard to enter the country

 Aid workers are subject to scrutiny and banned from any places the government does
