Apple Competetive Forces
Apple Computers recently developed a new operating system, which is called
Mac OS-X or also called Leopard. This operating system is a fun and modern piece of
software that is easy to use and reasonable priced. Macintosh always had a reputation of
cheaply made and terrible computers, but since Apple came out with the iMac and its
new operating system Leopard, this has changed its reputation dramatically, not to
mention that Windows Vista flop helped out a little bit as well and apples advertising is
just like their new computers and operating system, modern and fun.
The objective apple is trying to reach is to persuade the consumer that is still using a
Personal Computer (windows) to switch over to a Macintosh Computer. The personal
computer is still a huge machine with a bunch of wires that just takes up a lot of space,
not to mention windows latest invention of the operating system Vista, which has already
convinced some of the users to convert to Macintosh. When Windows developed Vista
people were very excited, but when the operating system hit the market, the consumer
quickly had to realize that vista has no or little compatibility with their existing software
or hardware. Apple is also trying to attract the more older generations with their product,
which is a task, since everything is very high-tech and super modern design which it is
harder to attract the older generations. Another problem is that Macintosh Computers are
not very reasonable in price, which is understandable with the top of the notch
technology apple is putting into their computers. The most people are used to Windows
Computers, since Windows has been the leader in the Computer sector for many years.
Mac and its new Operating System has the benefits that people to do feel like they are at
work when they are on the computer since the most offices use PC's. Sitting down in
front of a sleek super thin monitor that also is the computer itself, since there us no bulky
tower. When switched on, the computer boots up within seconds and the software usually
never freezes, like on the most PS's. Macintosh OS-X has fun applications like Garage
