In 1916 Cecile Sharp started publishing the folksongs but it wasn't until 1922 when Eck Robertson produced Sally Gooden that the country music genre became popular.

A couple years later in 1927 Ralph Peer signed two recording acts that change the face of country music Jimmie Rodgers is considered the father of country music. His unique singing style and his over all influence over the genre landed him in the country music Hall of Fame in 1970.The Carter’s family was nicknamed the first family of country music their new sound help them climb to the top of popular music for their time.

Western swing is a mix of jazz, big-band blues and country. Bob Willis was considered the king of western swing. The combination of the different genres has helped to further the development of country music.

Honky-tonk started from the feeling of a good time and then losing the one you love. No other division of country music has influenced today's music more than Honky-tonk just by listening to the young Hank Williams song you can hear aspects of songs today. The grand ol Opry was a show that hosted artist to promote their live performances. The grand ol Opry hosted many of the country music stars that we know today and to get a membership was one of the artist greatest ambitions.

Cowboy music was popular in the 1940s the 60s many cowboy movies came out during this time and The stars would sing their cowboy songs, one of the most popular of these is Roy Rogers he is considered the king of the Cowboys.
