Henry Ford

Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Greenfield Township, Michigan. His parents were William and Mary Ford. He was one of six children. Henry was in a typical farming family at the time. He went to a normal one-room schoolhouse. Even as a child Henry was very interested in mechanical things and not farming. (Shalman, Rachel)

When Henry was only sixteen years old he left his home and moved to the city of Detroit. He was working full time as a machinist. He then returned back to his hometown to work on the farm. He would travel back and forth from Detroit back to his home. While at home he would repair steam engines and work on the farm. In 1888 he married Clara Bryant and had one son named Edsel in 1893. At that time Ford was working at the Edison Illuminating Company in Detroit. After working there for a while he had enough money to start coming up with some of his inventions. In 1896 Ford had finished his first project called the Quadricycle. (Galan, Mark)

In 1901 Henry Ford started his own company called the Ford Motor Company. He had a new car, the Model A that went into production and went on the market in 1903. Soon the famous Model T was starting the manufacturing process. Fords company was becoming more and more popular. Most of the cars that were on the roads at the time were Model T’s. In 1919 Edsel Ford became president of the Ford Motor Company. From there the company had gone so far. In 1932 the first V-8 engine was put into a car, and much more. Edsel Ford died in 1943 due to cancer. Then in 1947 Henry Ford
