Mission and Vision
Many vision statements are written and hung on the walls of corporate offices. Do you think this type of display has value? Please tell me why, not just yes or no. What would be required to imprint the vision within each employee?
I don't think this is just a yes or no answer. I think it depends on how the companies implement it. If the vision is just posted on the wall and nothing else is ever said about it then I don't believe it is effective. If it is posted as well as talked about during company meetings and certain correspondence then I believe it would be effective. In order to imprint the vision within each employee, I think you need to hold everyone accountable to the vision. By this I mean that when an individual or the company makes a decision that it must be something that moves the company towards their vision. If decisions are being made that have nothing to do with the vision then the vision will get lost and employees may start to think that the company is losing focus.
The CEO of IKEA has just discovered that the rugs it imports from Pakistan and India are frequently made using child labor. This charge is about to become public, and will force IKEA to make some decisions going forward. As a first step, the CEO and management team will consider IKEAs stakeholders. For your answer here, identify both primary and secondary stakeholders for IKEA and their stakes that the company must consider.
