Cohesive force from workforce diversity
Development of an organizations depends on its cohesive force. Nowadays as the business world is becoming increasingly quickly, many organizations now have clients from different generations, nationalities, backgrounds and so on. How to make an organization which can more adapt the high developing society, let it survival and development, maybe intergeneration management needs to be given special attention.
Organization cohesion is the basic sign of corporate behavior, belong to the category of the organization culture and determines whether employees can be active, positive, creative work effectively, cooperate with others or not. Organization cohesion is a complex variable, there are many influence factors in it, include:
a. The compatibility of the members. Obviously, each individual has a different approach around personality, authority, hobbies, interests, goals, beliefs employer loyalty, work-life balance and other important issues related to the organization. It will impact performances not only the individuals but also the other group members. When the most of them
b. The requirement of the members. Different background people have different requirements for life. There are many reasons that a employees choose to work in a company or turnover. Some intend to be top performer who cares about promotion, some care about the salary and want to stay comfortable, some just need to learn skills by working, etc.
c. Organization standard. It is the invisible powers of specification which is maintain individual and group behavior. An organization have certain rules or not will affect the formation and development of the cohesion. Making effective fitting organization norms can restrained the behavior of members at a certain extent.
d. Work environment. Every one prefers to have better?positive environment which can totally make them commit. It will make employees feel comfortable and give them free thought, let employees play their personal ideas in the process of work and complete the task in the best fastest way.
e. Behavior and manner of leaders. Leadership is the core of the organization. A good leader who can rally all members together, good at listening to the opinions of various members will play an exemplary role to the organization. It will also help to form a good atmosphere and strengthen the cohesion of the organization.
f. Communication manners. Different people have different ways of thinking and communication method, if an organization include too many different types of people, fast complicated flow, complex personnel structure, different values that can make communication become more complex and difficult.
As you can imagine, workforce diversity makes the formation of core culture and cohesion is more difficult to form. When an organization gathered in a variety of employees and try to let them get into the company's core cultural, different values might conflict with some personal ideas. For managers, the difficulty is they must acknowledge and accept, support, and improve the problem of these issues, adjust and make everything balance and perfect.
