Organizational Structure for Apple
Former CEO Steve Jobs had established a very dynamic organizational structure for Apple. With this simple structure, Apple could perform and grow fast. However, the company is quickly expanding, and many functional areas are directly managed and controlled by the CEO. This can become a burden on the CEO and also can limit the amount direction and creativity because one person has control over every area of the business.
Tim Cook, the new CEO should consider some structural changes to the organization. Delegating some tasks to his coordinates can alleviate some of the pressure, and allow him focus on certain important objectives. As a suggested structural modification, the Chief Finance Officer, Senior Vice President of Technologies, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, and Senior Vice President of Operations will report directly to the CEO.
Human resources used to report directly to the CEO. However, now, it is under the supervision of the CFO. The HR department will work with the CFO to deal with employee related matters.
