Purchased Microwave/grill combo (model MWG9115SL) and like many other people had a very dangerous and potentially deadly issue with it! There is a screw holding the heating element to the roof of the unit and after awhile of use it starts sparking causing a burn in the roof of the oven that just gets worse over time! I had though I heard popping noises before and just assumed it was whatever I was cooking but the other night I noticed a plastic/electrical burning smell, tried to turn the microwave on again and it started sparking

from the roof down (that's what the popping noise had been all along!!!!!) and investigated and sure enough these it was... a HUGE charred mark all around this exposed metal screw!! THANK GOD I caught this before it caught fire or worse!!! I am not the first person to have this issue by a long shot. I think it's completely negligent of the company not to do a recall on these!!! Does someone's house have to catch fire before anything is done to fix this?!!!

I was microwaving popcorn when sparks started flying and electrical sounds started coming from the microwave.

I noticed that there is a metalic piece of cardboard on the right hand side. There was a round black burn mark on it. That was where all of the sparks were coming from. My son removed the metalic cardboard. It was covering a hole in the side. The microwave is working fine now,but my husband won't use it for fear that radiation is escaping from the hole. I haven't had the microwave that long.

I decided to look on the internet and see if I could get some info.

There is a website where there are specialists that can identify the problem. After typing the problem in detail. They said that they would answer the question for $28.00.

Needless to say, I didn't get my answer.

I think there is a defect in the microwave. I won't be buying anymore Emerson anything. I guess you get what you pay for. It was the cheapest reasonably sized microwave at Walmart.

Now I'm going to check the reviews, and find out which is the best to buy.

I bought the microwave Nov. 2009. Yesterday (2/2/2011/0) I was making pop corn in the microwave.

All of a sudden it started making strange noises and the inside was lit up like the 4th of july.

I quickly turned it off. the sliver plate inside was burnt black.

Model: MWG9111GL. I bought this microwave just over two years ago.

Shortly after the purchase, The microwave stopped working after my mother had used It to reheat some food. The microwave has barely been used at all. After some time had gone by, The microwave worked again. Still ever barely ever used.

I spent a good amount of money purchasing this oven. I believe It was about $250+ USD. I assumed that the most expensive oven the store had would be the best one. I was obviously wrong.

There was one more expensive and a tad larger, But this one had the grilling option. As I'm a Chef by trade, This oven doesn't get much use as I cook fresh with the stove. The oven was mostely ever used for the children to heat a snack up after school ect being that the stove was assumed to be more dangerous.

Well, Recently, My mother had tried to cook rice in the microwave oven when It failed. Now THIS is what's scarey... The microwave digital panel isn't working, But when You OPEN the door, The microwave
