3. If you were the Weaver corporate management person responsible for the Japanese operations and the conflict between Higgins and Prescott had come to your attention, what would you do? Be sure first to identify some alternatives and then to make your recommendations.

The ideal solution is to recognize that there are local cultural differences in each country, but there are also valid and valuable procedures from the States that can bring innovation and improved productivity to the international operations. Or, Weaver could adopt an entirely Japanese-centric approach to its human resource policy and operate more akin to other Japanese companies. This is the approach that Higgins has taken thus far.
