From Perm To Princess

There are so many magazine ads about hair products and what it could do to change your appearance. It is amazing how advertisers crop images, and add text to create a advertisement. This one in particular caught my eye. The ad consist of three hair products by Motions; relaxer, conditioner and shampoo. A soft back drop was added to Motions to give it a look of movement. There is a African American female dressed to impress with a million dollar smile. A Rose Royce is parked halfway in the ad. The advertiser use a gradient backdrop with the Chicago Skyline and Lake Michigan in front of it which gives off a evening setting. There is two huge columns behind Shannon with stairs that follow. The stairs is covered with purple carpet. Shannon is wearing a long yellow gown with a yellow stole draped across her arms. Yellow and purple were the two basic colors for this ad. They included the email address and where the hair products can be found. The main text of the ad is “ If you want the look that gets the looks, make the move to Motions.” Trying Motions would give you the look that you never had and it would attract attention that you never get. This advertisement is trying to sell more than just the product, it is trying to sell a dream. A dream that can come true with the help of Motion products.

A happier you would be my first choice of what is being sold in this ad. My second choice would be a dream come true. We all have dreams and hope one day for it to come true. Selling a dream is the next best thing to not living that dream. Being chauffeured in a Rose Royce is top of the line. Wearing a mink stole draped on your arms along with jewelry that will blind you is something you see on TV. A tailor made dress and a smile that is worth a million dollars puts the icing on the cake. She is dressed to impress from head to toe. The ad is promising the capture of attention and the only one that can do is your stylist.

The ad is selling to single, African American women age twenty five to forty. Women with hair that is not controllable would be drawn to this ad. Women who want to look and feel beautiful would be drawn to this ad. Single women who normally don’t dress up and get out to enjoy what life and get that second look from someone. Some women do not feel beautiful
