Value Personal Sourcewith Examples Justify the Value's Position in the List. Include any challenges to employing these values consistently when making personal and organizational decisions.
Honesty In my experience honesty creates the foundation for a well-structured life. Honesty was lacking when I was younger because my father would either lie or exaggerate the truth frequently. Honesty became a value learned over time with the help of my mother. She taught me that being honest to yourself and others would contribute to your self worth and personal growth as you proceed through life. I have honesty-listed number one because honesty has merit, contributes to the good of society, and helps in achieving life's endeavors. Honesty plays a critical role in both my personal and professional life. I believe that honesty is the number one factor contributing to my success. I am honest with clients from the outset, and I make it known that my customer needs to be honest with me as well. I monitor my customers frequently, and if I feel they are conducting business dishonestly; I cease doing business with them. Although being honest can be devastating and challenging at times, honesty is a value that needs to be utilized daily.
Integrity In business and our personal lives, integrity is a value that we should all possess. Without integrity you compromise your business and personal worth. For example, I had ordered a window product for a customer several months ago and one of the windows was manufactured incorrectly. This seldom occurs; but when it does the situation is generally corrected within a month or so. In this particular case, the window is still not manufactured and my customer is not only angry with the company but myself as well. With the company avoiding the situation and not taking accountability for their actions, they not only jeopardized the integrity of their company but my integrity as well. Integrity is my number two value which goes hand in hand with my first value; honesty. Possessing integrity gives me the knowledge to handle situations without compromising the values of others. Although this may be challenging at times, having the ability to understand the integrity you possess will help in understanding the integrity of others. Integrity is utilized when making business decisions because I always have a clear understanding of the products I sell, what the company's stance is behind the product, and what benefits it can provide to my customer. In business you place integrity behind the company you work for and the quality of the product you sell. The personal side of integrity demonstrates kindness, and candor. Integrity demonstrated my ability to meet those personal and professional challenges with sincerity and compassion.
Respect Respect is a value learned through the maturity of oneself. Respect is a value that I am proud to have. I learned respect from the teachings and wisdom of my mother. My experiences at a young age were to respect the teachings and values that your peers or elders displayed. My grandfather was a great role model for me in that respect. He taught me that respecting others would enable you to be successful in your personal and professional endeavors as well as teaching others the value of respect. Although I have placed respect third, combining the first two values with respect assists in determining the value of respect. Respecting the values of others views, ideas, and feelings can be challenging when making personal and professional
