In this paper I will discuss why I have chosen to pursue my MBA. I will also discuss what I hope to gain from my MBA learning experience.
Why I chose to pursue an MBA?
After spending 7 years in college getting a BS in Electrical Engineering, a BA in Economics, a MS in Electrical Engineering and working in my field for 10 years, I realized that I really had all the technical knowledge I needed for my job. What I was missing was how to effectively deal with people. How to resolve conflicts, effective communicate, get people to deliver on-time, and really just better understand human nature.
I think a lot of people pursue their MBA for career advancement, which is not really my goal. My goal is personal advancement in both my career and personal life. I would just like to be able to communicate better and help other get their job done more effectively.
What do I hope to gain from my MBA?
I hope to gain some basic skills that allow me to perform better, more efficiently, and with less conflict in my workplace as well as in my personal life. I would like to improve my writing, time management and conflict resolution skills.
Writing Skills
Writing is one of the most common ways in which we communicate today in the workplace and is by far one of the places that I need to improve my skills. Most people can't put together sentences in a clear and concise fashion manner. I hope to improve my writing skills as I'm forced to write more throughout this program.
